Rajasthan culture

Rajasthan is famous for textiles, semi-precious stones, and handicrafts, as well as for its traditional and colorful art. Rajasthani furniture is known for its intricate carvings and bright colours. Block prints, tie and dye prints, Bagaru prints, Sanganer prints and Zari embroidery are famous.Ghoomar or ghumar is a traditional folk dance of Rajasthan. It was the Bhil tribe who performed it to worship Goddess Sarasvati which was later embraced by other Rajasthani communities. The dance is chiefly performed by veiled women who wear flowing dresses called ghaghara.

How to reach

BY AIR– The three major airports of Rajasthan are Sanganer International Airport in Jaipur, Jodhpur Airport and Dabok Airport in Udaipur. While Sanganer is open to domestic and international air traffic, Jodhpur and Udaipur only serve domestic routes and Jodhpur also doubles up as a base for the Indian Air Force.

BY TRAIN – Rajasthan is also well-connected by rail and the major stations here are in Jodhpur, Jaipur, Udaipur, and Ajmer. Though, the busiest railway station of Rajasthan is in Jaipur. Ajmer Jn (AII), Udaipur City (UDZ), Bikaner, and Jodhpur Jn (JU) are the popular railway stations in Rajasthan.

By ROAD – The National Highway NH8 is the most important highway that connects Rajasthan to the capital city – Delhi, along with Jaipur, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Mumbai, etc.

Best time to visit

Tourists visit Rajasthan throughout the year but the best time to visit Rajasthan is during winter months of November to February, when the temperature is not too high. During December and January, there can be a severe variation in temperatures during the day and the night.
